Who we are
Personal data we collect and why we collect it
In order for us to operate and provide our services to you, it is sometimes necessary for us to collect or process information about you. When accessing the Website, Savvy Family Finance will learn certain information about you during your visit both automatically and through voluntary actions you may take. In general terms, this information will take one or more of the following forms:
- Information that you provide to us directly, such as in the situation where you complete an online form or send us a message via our website;
- Information that is automatically sent to us by your computer’s internet browser when you visit our website, such as your computer’s IP address or information about which particular internet browser you are using and so on;
- Information about how you use our website or our services, such as which pages you visit, how frequently you visit the site and so forth.
We refer to ‘personal data’ to mean any information that allows us to identify you personally. Examples of personally identifying information include your name and email address. We will always seek to gain your explicit consent to providing this information before we collect it from you, although this may not be the only legal basis on which we collect the data.
All web servers track basic information about their visitors. This information includes, but is not limited to, IP addresses, browser details, timestamps and referring pages. None of this information can personally identify specific visitors to this site. The information is tracked for routine administration and maintenance purposes.
Why We Collect Information
Savvy Family Finance collects your information in order to record and support your participation in the activities you select.
If you register to download resources, sign up for our newsletter, and/or sign up for an online course or book, we collect your information. This information is used to track your preferences and to keep you informed about the products and services you have selected to receive and any related products and/or services. It is only when you seek to download resources and/or register for services that you are required to provide information.
How Do We Use the Information
Essentially, we use personal information for administering our business activities, providing customer service, and making other items and services available to our customers and prospective customers.
Savvy Family Finance will not obtain personally-identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. This information will not be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties without the approval of the user at the time of collection.
From time-to-time, we may use the information you provide to us to make you offers to purchase products and services provided by third parties in exchange for a commission to be paid to us by such third parties. Should you opt to take part in such promotions, the third parties will receive your information.
From time-to-time, we may use the information you provide to us to display advertisements to you that are tailored to your personal characteristics, interests, and activities.
We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you use a contact form on our site, data entered such as name, email address and comments is captured when the form is submitted. We keep contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.
If you do not submit an online form on the Website, no information will be collected in that regard.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We have included cookies, web beacons, social media pixels, and similar technologies into one section because they all perform similar functions even if they work slightly differently.
When you visit a website, that site’s computer asks your computer for permission to store a very small file, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, in a part of your hard drive specifically designated for cookies. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser’s preferences allow it. To protect your privacy, your browser only permits a website to access the cookies that site has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites. Most browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) allow you to set preferences as to whether to allow or block website cookies and also may provide tools that allow you to remove any cookies that have already been set.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Controlling Your Privacy
Note that you can change your browser settings to disable cookies if you have privacy concerns. Disabling cookies for all sites is not recommended as it may interfere with your use of some sites. The best option is to disable or enable cookies on a per-site basis. Consult your browser documentation for instructions on how to block cookies and other tracking mechanisms.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
An IP address is used by your computer every time you are connected to the Internet. Your IP address is a numerical label that is used by computers on the network to identify your computer. These IP addresses are automatically collected by our web server so that data such as the web pages can be sent to you.
Savvy Family Finance uses Google Analytics to better understand how people use our website. When people visit our site, information about their visit (such as which pages viewed, how long spent on the site, etc.) is sent in an anonymous form to Google Analytics (which is controlled by Google). The data contains information about persons using our website from your computer, and there is no way to identify individuals from the data.
No personally identifiable information is contained within the data sent to our analytics providers, and we also perform a process which partially obscures your IP address information.
If you choose to correspond with us through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received online and mail. This also applies when you sign up through any of our forms using your email address or make a purchase on this site. For further information see the email policies below.
We are committed to keeping your e-mail address confidential. We do not sell, rent, or lease our subscription lists to third parties, and we will not provide your personal information to any third party individual, government agency, or company at any time unless strictly compelled to do so by law.
We will use your e-mail address solely to provide timely information about Savvy Family Finance.
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional materials may opt-out of receiving these communications by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the e-mail.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
We will retain the any other information you choose to provide to us until the earlier of:
1) you asking us to delete the information,
2) our decision to cease using our existing data providers, or
3) we decide that the value in retaining the data is outweighed by the costs of retaining it.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Unsubscribe or Opt-Out
All users and/or visitors to our website have the option to discontinue receiving communication from us and/or reserve the right to discontinue receiving communications by way of email or newsletters.
To discontinue or unsubscribe to our website, please send an email that you wish to unsubscribe to the email on our website or click the unsubscribe link in the email. If you wish to unsubscribe or opt-out from any third party websites, you must go to that specific website to unsubscribe and/or opt-out.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Email addresses that are submitted by the visitor through registration or opt-ins are stored with our email processing service.
How we protect your data
We use commercially accepted methods to ensure the security of the information you provide to us and the information we collect automatically. This includes using standard security protocols and working only with reputable third-party vendors.
Note that email is not a secure mode of communication. For this reason, we request that you do not send private information to us by email. Doing so is allowed, but at your own risk. Some of the information you may enter on our website may be transmitted securely via a secure medium known as Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL. Sensitive information is never transmitted via email.
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, Savvy Family Finance uses software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
