Have you ever done something so stupid with your money that thinking about it makes you do a facepalm?
Yeah, that was me straight outta college. I, with some other starving students, went to a presentation (a.k.a. sales pitch) on how to save money. It was one long, drawn-out attempt at getting us to buy a membership in a buying club. I forget exactly what it was, but you could get CHEAP! DISCOUNTED! prices on furniture and kitchenware and whatnot.
And I got sucked in.
Sigh. What is worse, is that while, yes, I was just finishing college, I was about to start grad school. Ugh.
So, I got myself into a $1000 contract (that I didn’t know I could back out of within a couple days) and never used the service. Well, I did think about it, but the deals were actually never that great. No better than regular furniture and whatnot on sale at the usual stores.
What I Did
I eventually did pay off that membership and never looked back. Watching late-night shopping network TV, it is easy to see how people are lured in by the thought of a great deal.
What is one of your money mistakes?
